The photo competition for young photographers ..Where the Baltic Sea and People Meet..., organised by the Latvian Foreign Ministry and the Latvian Centre for Contemporary Art under the Balticness project as part of Latvia's Presidency of the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS).

Altogether nearly 300 works from all eleven CBSS states were submitted, with the greater proportion of submissions being from young Latvian photo artists.

Thirty eight photographic works were selected for the exhibition, accenting the symbolic significance of the Baltic Sea as a unifying element. The photographers, young people aged between 18 and 30, viewing the Baltic Sea through the eye of the camera, have to a certain extent, created their own - future of the region - image of characteristics and values; incorporating modernity, sense of humour, creativity, appreciation of the surrounding environment, innovation, and energy.
